What Does Congress Do?
Congress is the law making body of the United States. Congress is made up of two houses, the House of Representatives and the Senate. The main power of Congress is to make the laws that, when signed by the President, become the laws that govern our society and that the American people must abide by. The House of Representatives has the principal control over monetary issues and the Senate has the principal control over appointments in the judicial and executive branches of government.
